Grand Theft Auto V is making its debut on PC Game Pass, expanding its availability beyond the console version for the first time ever.
For the umpteenth time, Grand Theft Auto V is coming back to the Xbox Game Pass, and this time it's bigger than ever before. Aside from its availability on the console version of the video game subscription service, GTA 5 is also headed to the PC Game Pass for the first time ever. This means that subscribers can enjoy Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced for much lower price than they normally would, so long as their subscriptions are active.
Microsoft itself confirmed the incoming games lineup for the Xbox Game Pass on April 15, which now includes GTA V. The release was revealed earlier by insiders who claimed to have received an email ahead of its official announcement. With Grand Theft Auto 6 just a few months away, bringing GTA 5 back to the bundle is a great idea.
As previously mentioned, it's no longer just Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced Edition and Grand Theft Auto V Expanded and Enhanced that's going to be available, but also the free upgrade on the PC with Xbox Cloud Gaming support to boot. Bringing GTA V to the Game Pass is huge because the second-best-selling video game of all time currently can't be purchased on the PC via the Microsoft Store. For GTA V to be on the Game Pass, it will have to be listed on Microsoft's digital games distribution platform.
This is even better news for the entire Grand Theft Auto franchise. It could mean that Rockstar Games is bringing the series to as many platforms as possible, perhaps as part of its extensive marketing campaign ahead of the launch of GTA 6.
GTA V is enjoying arguably its best run in recent years as Rockstar prepares to sunset the game in favor of GTA 6. Although Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick insists that GTA 5 will continue to receive support, everyone knows that the game's days of content support are numbered. Ensuring that as many players as possible has access to the game gives it the farewell that it more than deserves.
If nothing else, the PC Game Pass launch of GTA 5 should help the game curry favor among PC gamers who aren't too happy with the game's ongoing migration issues and other problems. As for GTA 6, Zelnick recently confirmed that they are intentionally keeping the release of GTA 6 close to their chest.
