Sony is giving Grand Theft Auto VI its own theater at Tokyo Game Show 2026. Inside the PlayStation booth at the September 17 to 21 show, Sony Interactive Entertainment is running a "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" theater where visitors watch the 30-minute trailer on a massive 300-inch screen, with the company's floor haptics rumbling along for added immersion. As if that's not enough of a reason to sit through the entire thing, audiences who watch their entire thing in person leaves with a free co-branded GTA 6 and PlayStation T-shirt.

The theater sits alongside playable demos of Sony's own lineup, including Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Marvel's Wolverine and Ace Combat 8. There is no separate Rockstar Games or GTA 6 booth and no standalone Take-Two Interactive presence at the show. The setup is PlayStation's, using GTA 6 as one of the headline draws.

What Sony is putting in front of Tokyo Game Show visitors.

This is just the latest in what's easily the most comprehensive partnership between a console manufacturer and third-party publisher in video game history. Most recently, Sony put GTA 6 on billboards across Tokyo, gave the game two custom DualSense controllers and folded GTA 6 into its "It Happens on PS5" campaign. A dedicated theater at its biggest home-market show is the same move at a bigger scale, treating a multiplatform game like a PlayStation exclusive.

What is on that 300-inch screen matters, though. It is not new footage. It is the same Extended Look that topped Netflix in late August, now blown up with rumbling floors. Sony does not need fresh material to draw a crowd. The game's name and a fresh shirt do the work.

Again. This isn't a new GTA 6 reveal even though it's happening in the same week as another upcoming Take-Two "event." Then again, it doesn't need to be one.

Sony putting on a trailer everyone has already seen on a 300-inch screen and handing out branded shirts is more than enough.
