GTA Online: The Contract

Everything about The Contract DLC in GTA Online, covering your Agency purchase, Security Contracts, and the entire Dr. Dre VIP Contract storyline.

The Contract DLC Overview

The Contract DLC in GTA Online is a major expansion bringing Franklin Clinton back into the fold, introduces the legendary Dr. Dre to Los Santos, and offers a host of new missions, vehicles, and business opportunities through your own "F. Clinton and Partner" agency.

This guide series will take you from purchasing your Agency to completing every Security Contract and the entire multi-part Dr. Dre VIP Contract storyline.

The Contract DLC is one of the biggest DLCs in GTA Online, and the missions are designed to imitate the recent DLCs released before it. The notable real-life celebrities & associates featured in The Contract DLC includes Dr. Dre, DJ Pooh, Anderson.Paak, Lola Romero, and Jimmy Iovine.

The Contract DLC also has one of the most prolonged prep missions in any DLC to date, and has many sub-missions that you'll need to complete in order to reach the final mission for Contract Payout|the payout]. We show you how to get started with The Contract DLC, what to buy, prep missions, sub-missions, and the finale.

Check out our video guides added for each mission for better visual representation. We also have a separate guide for the new media stick/USB locations introduced as part of The Contract DLC as well as the Payphone Hits.

Buying The Agency

To get started with The Contract DLC, you need to buy the Agency. In GTA Online, you will get a call from Lamar Davis explaining about a new organization that he and his associate (later revealed to be Franklin Clinton) are setting up together. Once the call ends, you can navigate to Dynasty8 from your mobile phone and go through the different locations to buy the Agency.

All the different possible Agency locations are in the city and near other relevant businesses. The following are the four locations where you can purchase the agency with their respective base prices (without upgrades). Note that you do not need to buy the upgrades to do the missions.

Agency Locations

  • Little Seoul: $2,010,000
  • Vespucci Canals: $2,145,000
  • Rockford Hills: $2,415,000
  • Hawick: $2,830,000

It depends entirely on personal preference when it comes to deciding which one is the best Agency out of the four - your primary consideration should be making it near your other business locations.

We decided to buy the one at Vespucci Canals simply due to how open the surrounding area is. Given the open space around the building, it is very easy to land your helicopter on the agency building. During our entire playthrough of the DLC, we've found the Vespucci Canals building to be the most convenient out of all.

Agency Missions: The Contracts

The primary missions of the DLC are known as 'The Contracts' or Agency missions. You can access the Contracts by logging into the computer in your Agency office. Note that you can complete this entire DLC solo and that you must also register as a VIP, CEO, or MC President to play the missions.

Before we get into the Agency missions, it is also worth noting that there are three different difficulty levels for all The Contracts: Professional, Specialist, and Specialist+. Which difficulty you select will affect your Contract Payout|payout]

The Contracts

There are two types of contracts — Security Contracts and VIP Contracts.

Security Contracts

Security Contracts are repeatable missions available from your Agency computer. These missions offer a good way to earn cash, RP, and are a prerequisite for unlocking the main Contracts|Dr. Dre VIP Contracts]. We have detailed articles covering each of the five types of Security Contracts, including tips for successful completion.

Security Contracts are contracts that you can do at any time and they appear in randomized order. Only three different security contracts show up at a time. You can choose one and complete the one you like. When you complete one security contract mission, there is a 5-minutes cooldown timer before you can do the next contract mission.

The following are the links to our step-by-step guides on completing each security contract:

Completing Security Contracts is essential for progressing to the main Dr. Dre storyline. Security Contracts can be completed in Free Roam mode, both in public and private session. Once you've completed at least two security contracts, you'll unlock access to the VIP Contracts.

VIP Contracts

The multi-part VIP Contracts involve several distinct missions, from initial setup to tracking down leaks and the finale.

There are two missions you need to complete before you can finally start doing the actual VIP contract missions. However, these two "prep" missions are also considered VIP contract missions themselves.

We will call these two missions: VIP Contract Intro mission (On Course) and VIP Contract Setup mission (Data Recovery). After these initial missions, you will need to investigate three separate leaks before confronting the main culprit.

Follow our linked guides for step-by-step walkthroughs of each VIP Contract mission:

I. Initial Setup Missions

The intro mission is unlocked after you've completed at least two Contracts|security contract missions].

If you wish to skip doing these initial setup missions, just start them and then fail on purpose (exit the game). Doing so will count as "two completed missions". The reason why you might want to do this is to skip the 5-minute cool down between the two security contract missions. This is entirely optional though, and we recommend that you always complete the missions for the intended and best experience.

II. The Leaks

The leaks are the main prep missions before you can do Finale - Don't F*ck With Dre|the finale]. After completing the 'Data Recovery' setup mission, you can start doing the leak missions for Dr. Dre. These can also be started through the computer in your Agency office.

Each leak involves two investigation missions and a final recovery mission. The leak missions, as the name suggests, include the recovery of Dr. Dre's leaked unreleased music. In all three missions, you are tasked to recover the leaks. Here's how you can complete all three leak VIP contract missions:

III. Studio Time

VIP Contract: Studio Time - After recovering the leaks, you must protect Dr. Dre during a studio session.

IV. Finale - Don't F*ck With Dre

VIP Contract: Don't F*ck With Dre- After completing all the above missions you are ready for the The Contracts finale, which involves confronting the main thief and retrieving Dr. Dre's phone.

The Contract Payout

Security Contracts Payout

Security Contracts come in three difficulty tiers:Professional,Specialist, andSpecialist+. Higher difficulties yield higher payouts. Here are the payouts per Security Contract:

DifficultyPayout Range (GTA$)

Professional

$31,000 – $42,000

Specialist

$44,000 – $56,000

Specialist+

$60,000 – $70,000

VIP Contracts

VIP Contracts consist of multiple setup missions and a final mission, "Don't Fuck With Dre". Players who complete the full VIP Contract storyline as a leader receive the maximum payout. Here are the payouts for completing the VIP Contracts:

RolePayout (GTA$)

$50,000

Agency Safe

Your Agency passively accumulates money in the office safe over time. Completing Contracts|Security Contracts] increases the daily revenue your Agency generates passively. Every 5 Security Contracts completed adds $100 in daily income, up to a maximum of $20,000 per day, which requires 201 completed Security Contracts.

  • Daily income is deposited into the Agency Safe.
  • The Agency Safe can hold a maximum of $250,000 (maximum capacity).
  • Players must manually collect the money from the Safe and deposit it into their Maze Bank account.
  • It is recommended to collect from the Safe at least once per week to avoid reaching the cap and halting accumulation.
