Description
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas takes place in the fictional state of San Andreas, inspired by the real world states of California, Nevada and Arizona. Players take control of protagonist Carl Johnson and complete missions throughout the then-largest map of any GTA Game, featuring three cities - Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas. The open world game launched with the gameplay and features fans had gotten used to with previous 3D Universe installments, Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, with some additional role playing mechanics.
Story
Set in 1992, the story of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas follows Carl Johnson, referred to as 'CJ' throughout the game. Five years prior to the start of the game, Carl moved away from his home of Grove Street in Los Santos to Liberty City in order to escape gang life. His family is strongly tied to the Grove Street Families gang, led by his brother.
After a driveby hit intended to take out Sean 'Sweet' Johnson, leader of the Grove Street Families, mistakenly kills Beverly Johnson - mother to Carl and Sean - CJ returns and gradually becomes reincorporated into gang life. After being framed and betrayed in Los Santos, CJ flees and rebuilds a power base and wealth in San Fierro and Las Venturas before returning to his home to exact revenge and regain control over the Grove Street Families.
