Grove Street

Grove Street is a notable street and cul-de-sac featured in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, located in Davis, South Los Santos. In the HD Universe, it is the territory of the Original Covenant Ballas gang. The street holds a legendary reputation due to the events of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, where it served as the home turf of the Grove Street Families gang. It is a significant location for several missions and activities across multiple games.

Description

Grove Street is a somewhat deprived area characterized by high levels of crime, with police helicopters often seen patrolling overhead. The street begins at Davis Avenue in the northwest, with exits to Brouge Avenue and another un-named street, before ending in a cul-de-sac to the southeast.

It runs parallel to a section of the Los Santos Storm Drain and is located close to the Maze Bank Arena. A purchasable vehicle garage, the and Services|Grove Street Garage], is located at the end of the street.

Development and Influence

The design of Grove Street is inspired by real-world locations in Los Angeles County. Its primary inspiration is believed to be Palmwood Drive in Crenshaw1, Los Angeles. It also shares similarities with Spruce Street in Compton2, California, due to the presence of a cul-de-sac, the tree-related name, its proximity to the city's river, and the influence of a prominent local gang.

In real life, the Tree Top Piru3 set of the Bloods occupies Spruce Street, which mirrors the Ballas' control of Grove Street in Grand Theft Auto V.

Geography and Environment

Located in the Davis area of South Los Santos, Grove Street is an urban residential street that terminates in a cul-de-sac. It is situated adjacent to the Los Santos Storm Drain (also known as the Los Santos River) and is near major commercial areas and the large Maze Bank Arena.
Though not a direct copy, the HD Universe version of Grove Street shares several geographical similarities with its 3D Universe counterpart from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas:

  • Both versions end in a cul-de-sac.
  • Both are located deep within gang territory.
  • Both are adjacent to major commercial districts and a large stadium.
  • Both are situated next to the Los Santos River/Storm Drain.
