It appears Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick wasn't joking when he said that, in verbatim, the marketing for Grand Theft Auto 6 will be different and meet audiences where they are, because Rockstar Games just confirmed that the next glimpse we'll have of Vice City and Leonida will be on Netflix.

According to Rockstar on X, Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on August 27, at 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 8pm BST. The same trailer will appear on official Rockstar Games channels, including the studio's YouTube channel and the official website after six hours.

The record-setting pre-orders for both the Standard and Ultimate Editions are currently underway, so Rockstar is finally us Grand Theft Auto fans a longer, more detailed look at the much-awaited title. Unfortunately, we don't know much else about what the next GTA 6 trailer will include, but we do know that this will be the first time we'll be seeing GTA 6 in actual action since the release of the second trailer last year.

Netflix premiere is at 3 p.m. ET on August 27, 2026. The same feature also launches on Rockstar’s YouTube channel and official site at 9 p.m. ET the same day.

Rockstar has kept its marketing tightly controlled so far, with information regarding the game under tight lock and key since the earlier leaks, and this move expands the reach without fully handing over the content. By making it available on its own channels later the same day, the studio still retains direct access for its core audience.

Based on previous GTA marketing, the extended look is expected to show more of the open world, additional characters, and longer sequences of gameplay than either the first or second trailers. Expect us to watch closely for any new information about characters, gameplay, and the scale of the map.

This announcement also arrives amid ongoing discussions about physical editions, code-in-box releases, and regional pricing with various governments and politicians around the world, including Mexico, Brazil, and the Netherlands, pointing to GTA 6 as the pseudo mascot for Sony's plan to end disc production in two years.

While those topics will admittedly continue to generate debate for a long time, the extended look will, at the very least, shift the attention of gaming audiences back to the game itself. For many on the fence, new footage remains the most important factor in deciding whether to pre-order or wait for reviews.

Rockstar has not indicated whether this will be the final major content drop before launch or the first of many.

Given the studio’s history, additional trailers or gameplay showcases are still possible in the coming months, but given that no one had this kind of partnership between the streaming giant and Rockstar on their bingo cards, we really won't know what's in store for us until they're either shown, confirmed, or announced.

For now, August 27 is the next clear date on the calendar.
