GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look Runs About 26 Minutes, Shot Entirely on PS5

We finally have a sense of how big Thursday's Grand Theft Auto VI reveal actually is, along with additional reason to believe that it's going to be worth the wait. Netflix's listing states that the Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look clocks in at roughly 26 minutes, with the platform's official Tudum page stating that the whole thing was "captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5."

Similar to the second trailer, Rockstar Games is giving us a baseline glimpse of Vice City and Leonida, which we can only theorise means that a later PlayStation 5 Pro trailer is in the pipeline. With that said, nearly half an hour of GTA 6, if it is indeed that long, will serve as the longest look we've had of the next Grand Theft Auto ever.

A 26-minute presentation runs well past a standard trailer and even some full episode formats of Netflix shows, which points to real world exploration in Leonida, a proper look at leads Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, and actual mechanics rather than another cinematic sizzle reel. We say points to since Netflix and Rockstar have not confirmed the contents yet.

Earlier, a Netflix support chat floated 20 minutes and BBC reports pointed to around 30, both with the usual caveats about chatbots and app glitches. The current Netflix app and listing landing on about 26 minutes is the closest thing to a settled number we have until the actual release. It also means we got one of our predictions wrong, which we couldn't be happier about because we're getting more GTA 6 than we had expected. Who doesn't want that?

As for those who still don't know how and where to watch GTA 6's biggest slice of footage yet, the Extended Look is a Netflix exclusive for its first six hours, so you need a subscription to catch the 3 p.m. ET premiere. It then goes free on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the GTA 6 site at 9 p.m. ET the same day. Some context on why 26 minutes feels like a big deal: This is the first extended, gameplay-focused showcase after two cinematic-leaning trailers and it arrives 13 years after Grand Theft Auto V launched in 2013. GTA reveals have grown into cultural events of their own,and Take-Two Interactive boss Strauss Zelnick has already set expectations that this will feel more like a show than a quick trailer. The story picks up with Jason and Lucia in Vice City and the wider state of Leonida, tangled in a criminal conspiracy but much of the other more important details remain a blur, as they rightfully should.

With GTA 6 arriving on November 19, this 26-minute look is the main event until then. The premiere starts at 3 p.m. ET on August 27.
