Vice City is a recurring city in the Grand Theft Auto series. The name first appeared in the original 1997 game, became the setting of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, and returns in Grand Theft Auto VI as the main urban center of Leonida.

Original Grand Theft Auto

Vice City is one of the three cities in the original Grand Theft Auto, alongside Liberty City and San Andreas. This version uses the first game's top-down map and is separate from the later 3D and HD versions of the city.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories takes place in 1984, when construction and a violent struggle over the drug trade are reshaping the city. Its story follows Victor Vance as he is pulled into Vice City's criminal underworld.1

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City moves the setting to 1986 and follows Tommy Vercetti as he builds a criminal empire. This version of Vice City is a tropical urban sprawl stretching from beaches to swamps.2 The official maps for Vice City Stories and Vice City also show how the city changes between 1984 and 1986.3

Grand Theft Auto VI

The HD Universe version of Vice City is in Leonida. Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval become caught in a criminal conspiracy that stretches from the city across the state.4

The city's districts include Little Cuba and Stockyard, with Stockyard drawing on Miami's Wynwood. More than 50 street artists contributed murals across the game, including work in Stockyard.5

Vice City's fashion ranges from muddy workwear and throwback shirts to sharp suits and luxury labels. Stylist Jillian Carr has worked with Rockstar since 2023 to give those outfits a sense of local taste and lifestyle, with different neighborhoods reflected in the people on their streets.5
