PC Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming will welcome Grand Theft Auto 5 for the first time if the report is true.

A heavy hitter game is making a triumphant return to a heavy hitter subscription service. After bidding farewell to Microsoft's leading video game subscription service in December 2023, it appears Rockstar Games and Xbox have come to an agreement to bring Grand Theft Auto V back to the Xbox Game Pass, both on the PC and on consoles.

Initially rumored last July, @videotechuk revealed on X that they received an email stating that the second-best-selling video game of all time will be available on the PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass later this month with an xCloud launch also confirmed. This will be the first time that GTA 5 _will be available through the PC Game Pass.

What's perhaps most exciting is the xCloud release. Xbox Cloud Gaming gives players the opportunity to play supported games anytime, anywhere. This means that players will be able to access Los Santos across multiple devices at different locations. The triple threat of availability – Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Cloud Gaming – comes at an opportune time. It seems Rockstar wants to bring their flagship title to as many platforms as possible leading up to the launch of_ Grand Theft Auto 6 _later this year.

With over 210 million copies sold worldwide across all platforms,_ GTA 5 stands as one of the most successful video games of all time. Bringing it to multiple subscription services puts the Grand Theft Auto _franchise in front of as many eyes possible. For those unfamiliar with Game Pass, it's important to note that games typically rotate in and out of the service.

While most titles remain available for at least a year, Rockstar Games has historically marched to the beat of its own drum when it comes to subscription services._ GTA 5 had had shorter stints on the Xbox Game Pass in the past, usually lasting between 3-6 months. However, given the proximity to GTA 6 _'s release, this time could be different.

If anything,_ GTA 5 's re-release on various video game subscription platforms could be part of Take-Two Interactive's marketing efforts for this fiscal year, which it has dedicated a hefty sum for its upcoming slate of titles. GTA 6 aside, now is the best time to play GTA 5 on PC. The release of Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced brings the PC version a notch above Grand Theft Auto V Expanded and Enhanced . The free upgrade added new vehicles, ray tracing support, and improved upscaling technologies like DLSS 3 and FSR 1/3, giving players a glimpse of what GTA 6 _could potentially look like.

While an official announcement from Rockstar or Microsoft is still pending, it all feels like only a matter of time. Now the ball is in PlayStation's court to bring_ GTA V_back to PlayStation Plus. Perhaps this will be announced at the rumored collaboration event between PlayStation and Rockstar? We'll have to wait and see.
