It has significant graphical overhauls, including improved ray tracing for global illumination, ambient occlusion, shadows, and reflections. Improved particle effects, DLSS 3 and FSR 3 support, and load times optimizations.

The Enhanced version is also optimized for higher resolutions and frame rates. Players can also access the 'Career' page and complete challenges for various rewards.

Previously exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S console versions, these features are now available for PC players and here's how you can get GTA 5 Enhanced version on PC.

It's important to remember that while the Enhanced version of GTA 5 is a free upgrade, it's a self-contained game in its own right and separate from the original, which is now called the "Legacy" version.

This being the case, crossplay with players on the latter versions isn't possible. So, once you upgrade, you will still have the legacy version in your Steam or Epic Games library alongside the Enhanced version, but the progression of both games will be separate.

Open your Steam Library. You'll find Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced listed alongside your existing Grand Theft Auto 5 Legacy (the older version).
