Rockstar Games is releasing Grand Theft Auto V: Expanded and Enhanced for PC on March 4, with pre-loading now available for the 91.53GB update.

Grand Theft Auto V: Expanded and Enhanced is finally coming to PCs on March 4, and the pre-load has started.

Rockstar Games started hinting at the pre-loading process three days ago and now it's finally available. Those on PC can get the free upgrade for Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto Online for free as long as they own a base copy of the game.

The update clocks in at 91.53GB, so you'll want to clear up some disk space and make room for it, especially as it's expected to take up even more storage space going forward.

Upgrading to Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced (this is what Rockstar is calling it) is simple and straightforward. We've created a guide specifically to answer all your questions. But, in a nutshell, there's no strings attached regarding its free nature.

Anyone who already owns GTA 5 can upgrade to the newer and better-looking version of the game. The only caveat is that your system has to support it. Don't worry. If your hardware isn't up to snuff at the moment, you can always upgrade at a later date. Unfortunately, this will mean that you won't be able to play GTA Online with your friends and vice versa once the updated PC version goes live on March 4.

The new versions of GTA 5 and GTA Online will feature the same additional enhancements as their console counterparts, including GTA+ support, and several PC-exclusive features.

It isn't clear if Rockstar will also release a content update to celebrate the release of the free PC upgrade. But recent hints suggest that we'll be getting something related to the Hangar as part of the game's next expansion. However, this isn't confirmed yet. In the meantime, you can keep yourself busy with the latest weekly GTA Online update.

The latest freebie for GTA 5 and GTA Online is part of Rockstar's growing list of last-minute improvements to the PC version of the second-best-selling video game of all time. Last year, PC gamers got a much-needed security update with the introduction of BattlEye. Given GTA Online's continued popularity and the assurance Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick made earlier this year that the game will continue to get support even after Grand Theft Auto 6 has been released, this likely won't be the last significant addition.
