At long last, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto Online are getting the "expanded and enhanced" treatment on PC that players on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X have enjoyed for a while now, and it appears that Rockstar Games has pushed an update preparing for its release.

As confirmed last week, Rockstar will finally give the PC version of its best-selling title the next-gen treatment, months after its initial reveal last year. Unlike its console counterparts, Rockstar will release the newly remastered versions for free. Existing GTA 5 owners won't have to pay anything at all. However, just like on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, those playing the "older" versions of GTA 5 and GTA Online can't play with those on the newer versions and vice versa.

As spotted by @videotechuk_, Rockstar has pushed a small update for the Rockstar Games Launcher to support the upgraded version of GTA 5 on PC ahead of its launch on March 4. Unfortunately, it appears that it isn't going smoothly. There are several reports on multiple social media platforms, including Reddit, of user crashes and instability just right after Rockstar released the update.
