Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced Edition brought Grand Theft Auto V to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 18, 2014, followed by the original PC release on April 14, 2015. Developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games, this edition introduced first-person play alongside major visual, technical and content upgrades.15
Release history
Rockstar announced the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions in 2014. The console editions arrived on November 18 that year, while the PC edition reached retail and digital stores on April 14, 2015 after two delays.13 Our original PS4 and Xbox One release report records the console launch announcement.
What changed
The PS4, Xbox One and PC editions increased draw distances and resolution, added denser traffic, new foliage, improved damage and weather effects, more wildlife, extra weapons, vehicles and activities, and over 100 additional songs and DJ mixes.1
The console versions introduced first-person mode and raised Grand Theft Auto Online sessions to 30 players. Returning PS3 and Xbox 360 players could also transfer their Online characters and access additional vehicles, activities and weapons.2
On PC, the edition supported resolutions up to 4K, frame rates up to 60 fps, detailed graphics settings, multiple-monitor setups, custom music through Self Radio and the debut of the Rockstar Editor. GTA Online launched on PC with support for 30 players and two spectators.3
How it differs from later editions
The 2014/2015 Enhanced Edition is the PS4, Xbox One and original PC release. It is distinct from Grand Theft Auto V Legacy, the name given to the original PC build after the 2025 upgrade, as well as Grand Theft Auto V Expanded and Enhanced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced for PC. Rockstar kept the previous PC version available when the free Enhanced upgrade launched in March 2025.4
