Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced Edition is the second edition of Grand Theft Auto V released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The PS4 and Xbox One versions were launched on November 18, 2014. However, the PC version was delayed twice, eventually releasing on April 14, 2015.
History
Rockstar Games confirmed GTA V Enhanced Edition on September 12, 2014, nearly a year after the original release of GTA 5 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
It is a separate update from Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced that was released on PCs via the Rockstar Games Launcher, Epic Games Store, and Steam, on March 4, 2025.

Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced Edition was the first visual upgrade to GTA 5, allowing it to take full advantage of the added hardware of the eighth generation video game consoles. Aside from the visual upgrades, GTA V Enhanced Edition added increased player counts, more radio songs, collectibles, a first-person mode, and more single-player missions.
Those who pre-ordered GTA V Enhanced Edition ahead of its release received GTA$500K to use for story made and another GTA$500K for Grand Theft Auto Online.
As of March 5, 2025, Rockstar continues to support GTA Online on the PS4 and Xbox One. However, it has stopped supporting Rockstar Editor updates for the said platforms.
Technical Challenges
The development of the Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced Edition was not without its challenges. The introduction of first-person mode, for example, necessitated the creation of new animation sets, camera systems, and control schemes, all of which had to be integrated seamlessly with existing content and mission scripting.
The decision to allow character transfers from older consoles to the Enhanced Edition was a particularly ambitious undertaking as well. It required the development of secure, reliable migration tools and infrastructure.
