Ned Luke is not ready to say goodbye to Grand Theft Auto V just yet, and he is bringing the whole crew with him. The actor behind Michael De Santa announced on a September 2 stream that he is doing "The Final Mission," one last playthrough of GTA V before Grand Theft Auto VI takes over, streamed and recorded with a rotating cast of guests. Chief among them, Steven Ogg and Shawn Fonteno, the men behind Trevor and Franklin.
Luke has served as the game's unofficial and tireless ambassador for over a decade, still playing Grand Theft Auto Online and engaging with fans on X. Fonteno, better known as Solo, is always game to talk Grand Theft Auto. However, Ogg, the most elusive of the three, is the real surprise, since he is coming back for a farewell playthrough of a game he has, famously, never actually played.
Ogg has spent years cheerfully insisting he has never touched GTA V, calling it a cartoon and, at one point, telling fans to read Dostoevsky instead. It got prickly enough that Luke publicly called him out at a convention for weighing in on a game he never plays, and Ogg has shared about feeling nothing much toward GTA 6 either. So getting him to sit down for a full send-off is a genuine surprise, and, at the very least, a good excuse to hang out.
The first episode is already up, featuring Ogg and running through the early hours of GTA V with plenty of chat between the two. Luke says the series will keep rolling with more guests, big names and small, before the game finally hands over the crown in November.
There is something quietly fitting about it. GTA V has been these three actors' lives for 13 years, longer than most TV shows, longer than most careers. Rockstar Games never did bring Michael, Trevor, and Franklin back together for one last in-game heist, despite fan demand. So the cast is doing the next best thing on their own terms, one final ride through Los Santos before Vice City takes everyone's attention for the next decade.
If Rockstar will not give the trio a proper goodbye, they will just throw their own.
