Michael De Santa, formerly Michael Townley, is one of the three playable protagonists in Grand Theft Auto V, alongside Franklin Clinton and Trevor Philips. He is a retired bank robber whose comfortable life in Los Santos has left him restless and dissatisfied.1

Story

Michael secretly survives the failed North Yankton robbery and begins a new life in Los Santos with his family. Years later, his return to crime brings him into partnership with Franklin and reunites him with Trevor, forcing him to confront the deal and betrayals behind his disappearance.

His story combines large-scale heists with attempts to repair his relationships with Amanda, Jimmy and Tracey. Michael also pursues his interest in film production while trying to decide whether he can leave his criminal life behind.

Background
