Mounting evidence is pointing towards a Grand Theft Auto 4 comeback for modern platforms.

The evidence continues to pile up for a potential re-release of Grand Theft Auto 4, which may or may not be a remaster or a remake.

Take-Two Interactive recently concluded its May 15 earnings call where Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed some interesting tidbits about the company's plans going forward

Of course, much of the discourse was, and will continue to be, around Grand Theft Auto 6 and the company's confidence in its new release date following its earlier delay. But Grand Theft Auto fans have been looking for something to keep themselves busy in the meantime and there's a growing list of reasons why that might be a return trip to Liberty City.

Aside from rumblings that Lucia Caminos is from Liberty City, Take-Two's latest earnings call heavily hints at an undisclosed title that's coming out within the current fiscal year.

If you head on over to the May 2025 investor presentation, you'll find that Take-Two has revealed that it has 8 new iterations of previously released titles scheduled for FY 2026 through FY 2028.

In the same slide, Take-Two confirmed the name of the three titles: Civilization VII VR, Civilization VII for Switch 2 and Borderlands 4 for Switch 2.

Of the three, only Borderlands 4 for Switch 2 isn't scheduled for an FY2026 release, although with Borderlands 4 coming out in September, we can expect it to be available for the Nintendo Switch 2 before March 31, 2026.

Meanwhile, on Page 5 of the company's prepared remarks, Take-Two president Karl Slatoff mentioned that the company has "4 new iterations of previously-related titles" expected to be released throughout Fiscal 2027 and 2028.

While not explicitly mentioned outright, this leaves at least one unnamed re-release for this fiscal year.

Given that only GTA 4 hasn't been re-released for modern consoles (the backwards compatible version on Xbox is a nice touch but it isn't available to everyone), it only makes sense for this to be Niko Bellic's re-introduction to modern audiences.

GTA 4 is a fan-favorite entry that former Rockstar North lead developer Obbe Vermeij believes has the best introduction in the franchise.

It hasn't gotten as much love lately and it's a travesty that modern audiences can't relate to the phrase "Hey cousin, let's go bowling!" or know who cousin Roman is, but a re-release would change that.

Between the second GTA 6 trailer, updated GTA 6 website, a potential GTA 4 re-release and maybe even Grand Theft Auto Online DLC with Michael De Santa, we're pretty sure no one will remember how long they waited for GTA 6.
