Obbe Vermeij believes Rockstar will limit trailers to avoid spoilers, likely releasing the next one just two months before the game's launch.

Obbe Vermeij doesn't think that the next Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer is coming out anytime soon. The former Rockstar North technical director recently sat down with JVMag.ch's Vespucchix for an interview where he revealed his thoughts about GTA 6.

According to the man behind some of Rockstar Games' most successful titles, including Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto IV, the next GTA 6 trailer isn't going to premiere next month, contrary to what the recent rumors are suggesting.

When asked about his expectations for the next GTA 6 trailer, Vermeij answered that he doesn't think that Rockstar will release more than two trailers this time for fear of spoiling anything. Because of this, he believes the next GTA 6 trailer will likely be released two months before the game is out.

It's worth noting that the first GTA 6 trailer went through a lot. Leaked ahead of its official announcement and even before its official reveal, Rockstar was reportedly not happy with the way things went down. So much so that they were said to have considered delaying its premiere just so that they could spite those that had leaked the information beforehand.

Although the first GTA 6 trailer went on to become a massive success, you can't blame Rockstar for wanting to take precautions this time around. Earlier in the same interview, Vermeij expressed his support for the new strategy by Take-Two Interactive. He acknowledged that the wait can be frustrating for fans but he ultimately believes that it will make the release more exciting.

Vermeij also praised the realism of GTA 6 and said that it it feels like a "completely different game" from the classic PS2 title GTA: Vice City, which he previously voted for as the Grand Theft Auto title with the best opening. Vermeij shared similar thoughts in a different interview last year, defending Rockstar for staying quiet to avoid being misunderstood.

While Vermeij is long removed from Rockstar, his insights remain valuable. As someone who had a hand in building GTA into what it is today, it's interesting to see him as a fan of what the franchise has become. With that said, there's no way of telling if and when we'll be getting a new GTA 6 trailer.

For now, fans can watch the first GTA 6 trailer on loop and see if there's anything else they still missed. After all, it wasn't only until recently that the theory that a certain Grand Theft Auto 5 character was featured in it. Who knows what else you'll see? Maybe further proof that it's indeed the Vercetti Estate, once owned by Tommy Vercetti, that was shown in the trailer as previously spotted?

GTA 6 is currently slated for a Fall 2025 release, likely after Mafia: The Old Country, Borderlands 4, and Ghost of Yotei, which are coming out on August 8, September 23, and October 2, respectively.
