PlayStation and Rockstar's rumored marketing deal for GTA 6 is gaining traction.

Industry insiders, executives, and rumor mongers alike have called Grand Theft Auto 6 by many names. From "huge meteor" to "iceberg" and a game that will set a new creative benchmark in the entertainment industry, courtesy of Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick, they've thrown pretty much the entire English library at the game. However, something that probably hasn't been used to describe GTA 6 is "the headliner of the next PlayStation showcase" - but this could all change soon.

Last year, Colteastwood and Middleagegameguy (MAGG), via the XNC Podcast, revealed that PlayStation and Rockstar Games have an exclusive marketing deal in place for GTA 6. Months later, several other insiders parroted the reports that this would all be confirmed this spring, which could be anywhere between March and June. Now, with the turn of the new fiscal year, a recent revelation might have just confirmed that this partnership could indeed be true and bear fruit within the next few months.

Middleagegameguy has spent the past couple of months dropping exclusive details about the The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake by Virtuos Games, including that it will be shadow dropped on the same day it will be revealed. Although the remake still hasn't been released yet, Bethesda has officially confirmed that it's coming. The official reveal will happen on April 22 at 11:00 AM EST.

Considering MAGG's recent track record, there's valid reason for Grand Theft Auto fans to get their hopes up - especially since there are also rumors that Sony is expected to hold its next State of Play showcase soon. Sony has previously held separate showcases for upcoming titles to the PlayStation platform and dedicated an entire showcase for a single game.

GTA 6 could be next. The historically close relationship between Rockstar and Sony also lends weight to this theory. Besides, it's been speculated that Grand Theft Auto V will leave PlayStation Plus in May, so what better way to console fans than to dedicate a showcase just for GTA 6?

Sony could hold a State of Play within the next two weeks filled with upcoming games before confirming that they'll hold a separate showcase exclusively for GTA 6, preferably after 2K and Hangar 13's PAX East 2025 panel where they'll reveal new footage of Mafia: The Old Country on May 8 but before the next Take-Two earnings call on May 15.

While this could all be much anticipation for nothing, the good news is that GTA 6 news is bound to come soon. Take-Two's new marketing strategy seems to favor releasing new info closer to a game's release. With Mafia: The Old Country and Borderlands 4 coming out on August and September, respectively, and the summer season being typically dedicated to showcases, official GTA 6 news should pop up soon.

Unfortunately, there's no way to tell if it will be good news or bad news. In other GTA news, Ned Luke just shared his thoughts about potentially reappearing in Grand Theft Auto Online as Michael De Santa. Fans also spotted an uncanny resemblance between Michael's daughter, Tracey De Santa, and the "Mud Girl" in the first GTA 6 trailer.
