Nintendo platforms have historically not been a priority for Rockstar Games, but the studio has supported their consoles to some extent, which may be why talks of Grand Theft Auto 6 possibly coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 are generating so much excitement. The main source of all these talks is NateTheHate2, who previously mentioned that Rockstar was "doing tests to bring [GTA 6] to the Switch 2". However, the same insider clarified that tests don't always mean that a game is releasing on that platform.

It's common practice for developers to run their games on other platforms even if they don't end up releasing on them. Rockstar has a history of this with Grand Theft Auto III, initially being developed for the Sega Dreamcast, before this idea was ultimately scrapped, and the exclusive rights went to Sony. At the same time, Red Dead Redemption 2 has been rumored to be in the works for Nintendo's latest console, which is selling extremely well all over the world.

Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition were released on the Nintendo Switch in recent years, and it's not like Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has not flirted with the idea of releasing Grand Theft Auto V on the same platform, even speaking highly of the Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year. So what we're trying to say here is that it isn't impossible, but it's also best to keep expectations tempered.
