Simply returning to Los Santos could net you GTA$3 million.

It isn't like the Rockstar Games we've come to know and love to do this, but we're not complaining - who would when there's GTA$ 3,000,000 on the line? In a surprise mid-week update, Rockstar has a new "limited-time offer" to returning players. According to the official announcement, "players who haven't logged in to Grand Theft Auto Online in the last 60 days can activate an exclusive offer for up to GTA$3,000,000."

The way that it's structured is that the returning player will get GTA$1,000,000 just for returning to the game. However, to get the remaining GTA$2,000,000, you'll have to buy a Shark Card and become a GTA+ member to receive GTA$1,500,000 and GTA$500,000, respectively.

This isn't the first time that Rockstar is giving away free in-game money, but it's one of the few times that they're giving away this much, and for no apparent reason. Perhaps it has something to do with wanting to compensate players after the release of Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced on March 4, which, while successful in pulling in more players than ever on Steam, has been subjected to criticism for its lack of features, among other things.

Since launching the free update to Grand Theft Auto V on PC, Rockstar has released a patch nearly every other day. Although worrying as it might be taking away resources that it could've otherwise devoted to Grand Theft Auto 6, it's possible Rockstar can afford to do this now because the upcoming sixthquel is already nearly completed.

The last we heard about GTA 6 is from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick, who confirmed that it's still set for a Fall 2025 release after the launch of Borderlands 4. Given that Rockstar India is already hiring for game testers for April, it's indeed possible that GTA 6 is near completion and that we might be getting a trailer next month, as the recent rumors are suggesting.
