Rockstar Games has released a patch to support GTA V on PC Game Pass.
As the age of the platform exclusive seems to be declining, subscription services are a new battleground for competing gaming companies. PC Game Pass, one of Microsoft's services, offers hundreds of games that you can play on PC for $11.99 a month, which will soon include Grand Theft Auto V, specifically the troubled Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced release.
Microsoft confirmed the news earlier this month. Now, ahead of its April 15 release, Rockstar Games has released a patch adding support for GTA V on the PC Game Pass, which marks the first time the game will be available on the PC-exclusive video game subscription service.
There's never been a better time for GTA 5 to be available on as many platforms as possible. With Grand Theft Auto 6 set to launch later this year, this is basically free marketing and Take-Two Interactive are getting paid for it.
By adding the decade-old return trip to Los Santos, the 2013 title will now be available on all major platforms, including the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 via PlayStation Plus. However, there are rumors that GTA V could be leaving the blue team's Game Pass equivalent soon.
With that said, PC gamers no longer have to worry about missing out on content exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X versions of the game. Three years after releasing Grand Theft Auto V Expanded and Enhanced on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, Rockstar updated GTA V on PC bringing it up to par with the latest console iterations.
This means that aside from access to Oscar Guzman Flies Again and the latest Grand Theft Auto Online update, PC Game Pass subscribers will get access to additional content such as Hao's Special Works and Vehicles. It's unclear if PC Game Pass subscribers will also get access to Grand Theft Auto V Legacy, though there would be arguably little benefit to this.
Unfortunately, despite releasing multiple updates over the past two weeks, Rockstar has remained silent regarding the ongoing exploit that's affecting GTA Online players on PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
