In what has to be the least surprising way someone has attempted to make things up to people they've hurt and disappointed, Rockstar Games is apparently giving away access to Grand Theft Auto 5 for free to its users on its best-performing platform. According to reliable industry leaker Billbil-kun writing for Dealabs, GTA 5 will be returning to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers later this month.
This comes after Rockstar announced another six-month delay for Grand Theft Auto 6. If this isn’t part of their attempt to do damage control, we don’t know what is. Billbill-kun claims that Sony will reveal the full lineup of games joining PS Plus Extra and Premium on Wednesday, November 12.
This isn't GTA 5's first appearance on PlayStation's subscription service. The game has developed a pattern of rotating in and out of the catalog at roughly six-month intervals. It was most recently removed in May 2025. Previous appearances occurred in November 2024 and December 2023.
