The fan-made video was originally uploaded in December 2023, shortly after the premiere of the first GTA 6 trailer.
You can only say the phrase "the hype for Grand theft Auto 6 is real" so many times until you get sick of it, but it hasn't stopped fans from making entertaining content in the interim, while waiting for the next game in the best-selling franchise to drop sometime later this year. Or a trailer. Or screenshots. Or any official news - yeah, it's pretty dire. Dire enough for a fan made trailer of a decade old game to go viral.
From petitions to rumors about celebrity appearances and mods, GTA fans are desperately trying to fill the intentional hole that Rockstar Games is choosing to leave unfilled. It's now come to a point that older content is resurfacing and going viral again. Case in point, this fan-made trailer made in Grand Theft Auto 5 designed to mimic the feel of GTA 6.
Originally uploaded by quint on YouTube in December 2023, the footage has since gone on rack up over 3 million views, and has become widely praised by many as having perfectly captured the vibes that Rockstar was going with the first GTA 6 trailer.
Considering that this is all likely made using assets that already exist in GTA 5 and has been around for over a year, fans shouldn't expect Take-Two Interactive to take the trailer down anytime soon. So if you're interested in viewing it now or later on, feel free to click here.
The fact that a fan can make GTA 5 look and feel so much like GTA 6 sets a high bar for the sequel to clear. The decade-old game continues to draw crowds with every update and it's expected to continue receiving some love from the developers even after GTA 6 hits the market, as confirmed by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick.
It currently holds the record as the best-selling game in the franchise and the second-best-selling video game in the world, with an upcoming update on PC that will put its graphics and features up to par with the Grand Theft Auto 5: Expanded and Enhanced edition on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X.
While GTA 5 casts a tall shadow, if you ask anyone whose thoughts on Grand Theft Auto hold any weight, Rockstar is making a game that will surpass every entry before it. Everyone from Steven Ogg to Ned Luke have nothing but praise. Even other company's executives like Corsair, Electronic Arts, and Sony, are all preparing for GTA 6 to drop later this year in some form.
With that said, the ball is in Rockstar's court now. After March 4, the runway is clear for more GTA 6 information to land, and you'd best bet that the entire world will be watching. Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently expected for a fall 2025 release on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X with a PC version already in active development albeit without a release date.
