Ned Luke, the voice of GTA 5's Michael, is predicting GTA 6 will surpass its predecessor's success.

In a recent interview, Ned Luke, the actor behind Grand Theft Auto 5's Michael De Santa, has shared his thoughts on the highly anticipated upcoming sequel, Grand Theft Auto VI, and made some bold predictions about its potential success. The actor, who has become synonymous with one of GTA 5's most iconic characters, believes that Rockstar Games has something truly special in store for players.

One of the most striking claims made by Luke was his prediction for GTA 6's financial performance. The actor believes that the new game will surpass the already impressive sales figures of its predecessor. GTA 5 famously generated $800 million in its first 24 hours of release back in 2013, but Luke expects GTA 6 to reach an astounding $1.3 billion in its opening day.

This prediction aligns with industry analysts' expectations, with some forecasting that GTA 6 could make over $1 billion in pre-orders alone. If these projections prove accurate, it would cement the Grand Theft Auto franchise's position as one of the most lucrative properties in entertainment history, which wouldn't be too far off from the predictions made by Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick a couple of years back.

Luke also touched on the possibility of familiar faces returning in GTA 6. While careful not to reveal any confidential information, he playfully hinted at potential appearances by GTA 5's protagonists. "Maybe Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be in GTA 6, like its online mode. Maybe. Maybe not," Luke teased, acknowledging Rockstar's notorious secrecy regarding their projects.

With GTA Online's continued popularity and evolving narrative, many wonder if Rockstar plans to create a more interconnected Grand Theft Auto universe. Over years of content updates, in-game time has progressed taking the GTA story and chronology further ahead. How or even if this will relate to GTA 6 is anyone's guess.

After all, it's not like Luke's the only former GTA 5 voice actor who voiced a willingness to return to the franchise even if only for a brief role. It wasn't too long ago when Steven Ogg mentioned wanting to see Trevor Philips appear in the modern day version of Vice City only to die an unceremonious death.

With that said, what makes Michael unique from Trevor and Franklin Clinton is that he hasn't appeared in GTA Online yet. This has led to theories about potential future content featuring the retired criminal, with Luke coyly suggesting "Maybe he's coming in a final DLC?"

As for GTA 6 itself, details remain scarce. The game's first trailer, released in December 2023, offered a tantalizing glimpse of the new setting and characters but left fans hungry for more information. Rockstar has maintained radio silence since then, true to their reputation for carefully controlled marketing campaigns.

With a tentative release window of Fall 2025, GTA 6 is still almost a year away. However, some analysts speculate that the game could face delays, potentially pushing it into 2026. This wouldn't be unprecedented for Rockstar, as their last several major releases have all experienced some form of delay. If it does happen, we're hoping that Rockstar has some sort of plan to tide audiences over.

Speaking of keeping fans busy, Take-Two Interactive has a chance to give the Grand Theft Auto community another couple of month's worth of theories and discussions by confirming the release date of GTA 6 in its upcoming earnings call. But based on this survey, it's starting to look like we'll be getting GTA 5 news instead.
