Steve Ogg wants Trevor to go out with a bang, literally.
Steve Ogg, the voice actor and likeness behind arguably the best protagonist in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, Trevor Philips, recently shared his thoughts about how he'd like to wrap up his character's story, and we have a feeling you'd like to see it play out, too - especially knowing that the canonical ending for the trio has all three survive.
It's worth noting that while Grand Theft Auto V had some pretty memorable moments, Trevor is far and away the standout character among the trio that includes Michael de Santa and Franklin Clinton - so much so that even Rockstar Games previously thought of making a DLC specifically to explore what Trevor had been up to following the main storyline's conclusion.
Of course, we all know now what happened to this planned DLC, even though Ogg had admitted that he'd gone as far as to record voice lines for it. Now, Ogg wants to revisit his iconic character and it might just be the best consolation prize for the cancelled DLC. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Ogg revealed his desire to see Trevor make a brief but memorable cameo in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI, only to meet a spectacularly violent end.
The actor suggests that his character could appear at the beginning of the game, only to be unceremoniously killed off in a manner reminiscent of Trevor's own introduction in GTA V. This full-circle moment would serve as a passing of the torch to the new generation of protagonists, while also providing a sense of closure for fans of the previous installment.
The proposed scene would mirror Trevor's infamous first appearance in GTA V, where he brutally murdered Johnny Klebitz, the protagonist from GTA IV's The Lost and Damned expansion. The actor sees this hypothetical scene as a way to acknowledge the passionate GTA community and provide a fitting send-off for one of the series' most memorable characters.
The idea of killing off a beloved character from a previous game is not without precedent in the Grand Theft Auto series. Each new installment typically introduces a fresh cast of protagonists, with past characters making only occasional appearances or references. Ogg's suggestion takes this concept to the extreme, offering a shocking and memorable way to establish the new game's tone and characters.
As for GTA VI itself, details remain scarce, but the first trailer all but confirms a return to a reinvisioned Vice City, complete with new areas to explore, and a pair of protagonists in a Bonnie and Clyde-inspired storyline. If Trevor were to appear, it would likely be in this new interpretation of Vice City, far from his usual stomping grounds in Los Santos.
Considering that the expected timeline of GTA 5 and GTA 6 aren't too far off, this idea isn't far-fetched and we can see it being simple enough to implement for Rockstar to circle back and add it into the game this late into the sixthquel's development.
Speaking of GTA 6, we're only a week away from what could potentially be the official release date reveal of the game. In the meantime, fans can celebrate GTA V's ongoing success after topping last year's United States sales charts by joining the Rockstar Games Steam Sale. But if you'd like a behind-the-scenes peak into the life of a Rockstar dev, you might also want to check out this parody game that's supposedly based off of GTA 6.
