Enhanced graphics, new car mods, and possibly GTA+ membership are coming soon to GTA Online on PC.
It looks like Grand Theft Auto Online players on the PC are about to get a bit of love from Rockstar Games. After getting a much-needed security update last year and the promise of Grand Theft Auto V: Expanded and Enhanced coming to desktops this year, it appears that Rockstar might have something more in store for its fanbase.
According to a now-deleted player survey that surfaced online courtesy of @mnm345x on X, it is not just the upgraded version of GTA 5 on PC but also GTA+, which is a feature currently exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, that might be making its way to the platform in the near future.
While this survey might be official, it's important to approach the information with a degree of caution. Rockstar Games has yet to make an official announcement regarding the exact release date of the PC update. In fact, their most recent communication on the matter was a newswire post from November 2024.
Although they did say that their goal was to release it sometime in "early 2025", these things aren't always set in stone. However, with Grand Theft Auto 6 also on the horizon for later this year, the timing of a PC update within the next few months seems increasingly plausible.
So, what can PC players expect from this long-awaited update? Among the most eagerly anticipated additions are the new offerings at the Los Santos Car Meet (LSCM), including the coveted HSW Premium Test Ride. Car enthusiasts are particularly excited about the prospect of HSW upgrades and modifications for select vehicles, promising to take customization to the next level.
The enhancements don't stop at vehicles. PC players are also looking forward to a significant visual upgrade with the introduction of ray-traced reflections, which promise to bring a new level of realism to the already stunning world of Los Santos. Additionally, the Career Progress feature is expected to offer players new ways to track their criminal empire's growth and achievements.
Perhaps one of the most significant additions is the potential introduction of GTA+ membership benefits to the PC platform. This subscription service has been a point of contention among console players, offering exclusive rewards, bonuses, and content. Its arrival on PC could reshape the playing field and offer dedicated fans new ways to engage with the game.
If nothing else, this could be the bone that Rockstar throws Grand Theft Auto fans who will undoubtedly feel disheartened once they confirm that Grand Theft Auto 6 is no longer coming out this fall as promised last year—a possible reality if Take-Two Interactive doesn't reveal more positive news about the upcoming title at its next earnings call.
In the meantime, those who don't own a copy of Grand Theft Auto 5 yet might want to take advantage of the ongoing Rockstar Games sale on Steam and get the game on a discount.
