Grand Theft Auto V proves that age is just a number.

Mat Piscatella revealed on Bluesky that Grand Theft Auto V is just as popular as ever with Grand Theft Auto fans spending more time than ever toying around in Los Santos in early March.

According to the Circana report, GTA V was the third- and fourth-most played game on PlayStation and Xbox, respectively, from March 1 through March 8.

This is a slight bump over last month, and likely has to do with the March 4 update to Grand Theft Auto Online. Although this is the combined figure of Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced Edition and Grand Theft Auto V Expanded and Enhanced, it's still telling that players continue to enjoy the game over other more recent competition.

What's particularly surprising is how much Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced surged atop the standings. Previously not part of the Top 15, the free upgrade to GTA V on PC ranked sixth on Steam US and Steam Canada and was ranked fifth on Steam Mexico.

What this all means is that GTA V is now one of the most played games on all platforms except for the Nintendo Switch where it isn't available—YET!

While GTA V continues to remain popular over a decade following its launch, it's still impressive to see it surge in popularity. This sets the bar high for Grand Theft Auto VI, which is already getting criticism for potentially failing to live up to the hype and praise as the frontrunner for the Game of the Year award.

Given GTA V's continued popularity, Take-Two Interactive will have to make sure to continue supporting the game after GTA 6 hits the store shelves later this year.

It also gives Rockstar Games the option to stagger the release of GTA 6 across multiple platforms, possibly delaying the PC version to as late as 2027 alongside the release of the successor to GTA Online, which may or may not be a full-flegded live-service title designed with content creators in mind.

All eyes might be on GTA 6 at the moment, but Rockstar is still hard at work giving players a reason to keep return to GTA V. Most recently, the developers gave returning players an incentive to log back into the game, subscribe to GTA+, and buy Shark Cards. There's also evidence that GTA V Enhanced is coming to PC Game Pass soon with Discord integration potentially in the cards, further proving that Rockstar is far from done with the 2013 title.
