Hao's Special Works (HSW) is the high-performance vehicle workshop inside the LS Car Meet in Grand Theft Auto Online. It converts eligible cars and motorcycles for HSW performance and visual upgrades, and supports HSW Races, HSW Time Trials and Premium Test Rides. HSW launched with Grand Theft Auto V Expanded and Enhanced on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 15, 2022 1, then arrived on PC with Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced on March 4, 2025 2.

HSW is not available in the PS4, Xbox One or PC Legacy versions. Those editions retain the regular LS Car Meet Mod Shop and received their own Car Meet Specification Service in December 2023, but they do not include HSW conversions or HSW activities 6.

What Hao's Special Works Adds

HSW expands the car meet introduced with Los Santos Tuners with a separate conversion for eligible vehicles. Buying the HSW Performance Upgrade unlocks Hao's additional parts for that vehicle; it does not include the base vehicle or every later modification.

Vehicle Features

  • Stronger HSW brakes and engine tuning, with suspension, transmission and staged turbo upgrades where the vehicle supports them.
  • HSW driving modes for electric vehicles in place of conventional transmission and turbo parts.
  • Model-specific visual options such as liveries, spoilers, forged-carbon bodywork and Chameleon Paint choices.
  • Different menus for different vehicle types: motorcycles do not receive car-specific body or suspension parts, while electric vehicles use their own performance options.
  • New HSW conversions added through later GTA Online updates. The Hao's Special Works and Vehicles Guide maintains the complete vehicle list and current conversion prices.

Races and Time Trials

The HSW Race Series contains 20 Rockstar-created circuits on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC Enhanced 4. The races are built for HSW vehicles, while the HSW Race Creator also lets players make or convert their own races with HSW eligibility and modification settings 3.

One of eight HSW Time Trial courses is featured each event week. Groups A, B and C receive different par times on the same route, balancing vehicles with different performance levels. Completing all eight courses unlocks the option to purchase the HSW Elite livery for compatible vehicles. An HSW conversion does not guarantee entry to every activity, so the detailed vehicle guide records the current Time Trial groups and exceptions.

Premium Test Rides and Vehicle Copies

Hao displays one converted Premium Test Ride beside the Test Track each event week. LS Car Meet members can drive it and buy it from the car meet without visiting an in-game dealer website 1.

The HSW Specification Service lets another player buy a separate copy of an eligible Personal Vehicle displayed inside the LS Car Meet, including compatible modifications. The original vehicle remains with its owner. Weaponized and otherwise restricted vehicles may not be available to copy.

How to Access HSW

Use the PS5, Xbox Series X|S or PC Enhanced version of GTA Online, visit the LS Car Meet in Cypress Flats and buy the GTA$50,000 membership from Mimi if you do not already have one 7. Take an eligible vehicle into the Mod Shop and select HSW Performance Upgrade to convert it before buying the remaining HSW parts.

Hao's introductory race is no longer required to access the HSW Upgrade Service or its modifications. Title Update 1.64 removed that gate in December 2022 3. Completing the introduction is still useful because beating Hao's time awards one free HSW conversion.

The HSW Race Series and weekly HSW Time Trial require a compatible converted vehicle. For costs and the complete roster, use the Hao's Special Works and Vehicles Guide. The fastest HSW cars guide compares tested top speeds and lap times rather than treating HSW eligibility as a performance ranking.
