We already know a lot about Grand Theft Auto 6 —from its characters, locations, and other important details, all thanks to the updated website, the first trailer, and the second trailer. But one key information that Rockstar Games continues to keep under lock and key is its price.

There’s been much speculation about how much the upcoming sequel will cost, and now, one of the actors who worked on Grand Theft Auto V just chimed in.

Jay Klaitz recently sat down with The Escapist to discuss his experiences with the series. The conversation naturally turned to the upcoming sequel, including the persistent rumors about its potential price point.

When directly asked whether GTA 6 deserves to be the first hundred-dollar game, his response was immediate and unequivocal.

According to the actor who brought the memorable character Lester Crest to life, “Yeah dude,” Klaitz responded, before launching into an explanation of why he believes that premium pricing makes sense.

He pointed to the massive investment in motion capture technology that defined GTA 5 and will presumably be even more extensive in the sequel. These games require years and years of development from massive teams working across multiple studios.

The actor emphasized just how long creating a Grand Theft Auto game takes. This stuff takes forever, he noted. From writing and voice recording to world-building, mission design, and technical implementation, each element requires enormous time investments from specialized teams.

For GTA 6, in particular, job listings have hinted at what Rockstar is trying to make, while we’ve learned that they’ve toed the line with controversial decisions with their return-to-office mandate a few years back.

However, Klaitz didn't completely dismiss concerns about accessibility. He acknowledged understanding the opposing viewpoint that wants games priced affordably so more fans can participate.

Making entertainment accessible matters, and he genuinely gets that side of the argument, too. Perhaps there's a way to split the difference, he suggested, which is somewhat in line with what Take-Two Interactive boss Strauss Zelnick previously said.

For now, the actual price of GTA 6 remains unknown. Take-Two will presumably announce pricing closer to release on May 26, 2026. If we’re lucky, we’ll learn of it as early as next week as Take-Two holds its next earnings call.
