The PS5 Pro will be a lot more expensive by the time GTA 6 comes out next year.
What happens when tariffs threaten to cut into a company's bottom line? In the case of Xbox and Nintendo, price hikes everywhere are the result - but it seems like Sony intends to buck the trend, at least until June 11.
Starting Wednesday, May 28 through June 11, Sony is bringing back its annual Days of Play summer sale event. While the usual share of discounted games are on the table, arguably the highlight is the discount on the PlayStation 5 Pro, the best console to enjoy Grand Theft Auto 6 on when it comes out on May 26, 2026.
According to the official blog post, Sony is slashing $50 from the retail price of the PS5 Pro. What this means is that now is the best time to get a PS5 Pro if you've been holding out for a while, especially if you plan on playing GTA 6.
What's even better though is that the PS5 Pro isn't alone in getting a discount. The base PS5 is also available at a lower price. Based on Rockstar Games' admission that the footage from the second GTA 6 trailer was from a PS5, getting either one of the consoles for a discount will be a good idea.
Aside from the PS5 and PS5 Pro, you can also renew or subscribe to PS Plus at a lower price as part of Sony's annual event.
Given that Grand Theft Auto III (the remastered version that's part of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition) is coming to PS Plus on June 11, the discounts during Days of Play might be the best way to get the most bang for your buck this summer if not the rest of the year.
The PS5 Pro has long been considered as the best platform for GTA 6 - admittedly a strange concept for a game a year away from launch. The recent footage and stills that we got of characters and locations in the HD Universe version of Vice City only reinforce this.
With the PC version of GTA 6 likely still years away and the possibility of the United States and China being unable to agree on a new deal, this could be your last chance to enjoy the PS5 and PS5 Pro at these prices.
