Something unusual is happening at Rockstar Games. While much of the attention is on the price of the mansions coming as part of the A Safehouse in the Hills update, as well as the return of Michael De Santa, it's worth noting that this will mark the first time that Rockstar will release content for Grand Theft Auto Online on a Wednesday instead of the usual Tuesday schedule.
While a single day might not seem significant at first glance, this seemingly minor change could have huge implications, particularly since it's happening just days before Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to bag yet another award at The Game Awards 2025 on December 11. For those unfamiliar with Rockstar's typical release schedule, major GTA Online updates and downloadable content have traditionally launched on Tuesdays.
What could be important enough to warrant pushing the update back by exactly one day? Perhaps most intriguingly, what might the company be planning to do with that now-vacant Tuesday slot? By moving the GTA Online update from Tuesday to Wednesday, Rockstar has effectively cleared their schedule for December 9. Leaving it wide open with no other Rockstar announcement or releases competing for attention creates the perfect condition for dropping major news.
GTA 6 has so far received its first trailer, second trailer, and an updated website complete with information on new locations and characters each carefully crafted and released with maximum fanfare.

However, following the recent delay to November 2026, fans are understandably getting antsy, and with the holiday season bringing increased media attention to gaming, a major announcement during this window wouldn't be the worst idea. Although Rockstar has never been one to play by the usual rules, it likely wants to maintain momentum and keep the community engaged through the lengthy wait.
With that said, you shouldn't hold your breath. The reality is that only Rockstar knows what, if anything, they have planned. The company could surprise everyone with a new trailer, a detailed gameplay showcase, or a substantial information dump about GTA 6. Or, Tuesday could pass quietly with nothing happening at all, leaving the schedule change as simply an unexplained quirk of development timing.
For now, all anyone can do is wait. The good news is that it won't be long before we find out what Rockstar has up their sleeves.
