Though the new update fixes several bugs, players are still reporting lingering performance issues.
Rockstar Games has released a fourth post-launch update for Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced on PC, approximately one week after the new improved version's troubled launch. The 1.25GB update focuses on addressing several critical issues that have plagued the game since its release. According to player reports, the latest patch delivers considerable improvements to some of the most frustrating technical issues, including:
- Reduced stuttering during gameplay, particularly while driving vehicles
- Fixed frame rate drops that occurred underwater
- Processed refunds for the Karin S95 vehicle
While Rockstar hasn't published official patch notes for this specific update, the community has documented these improvements through thorough testing. Despite these fixes, some players report that performance issues haven't been completely eliminated, with frame rate drops still occurring on certain hardware configurations.
This latest patch follows three previous updates released shortly after launch. The third patch added a new error message for players without DirectX 12-compatible video cards and general stability and security improvements. So many patches in so little time shows the troubled state the game launched in - but you gotta hand it to Rockstar for the swift support.
Meanwhile, a server-side update addressed several gameplay issues, such as fixing transaction errors when GTA+ members requested luxury helicopters, resolving an issue causing multiple character introductions in Career Builder, and fixing a bug where players became stuck in Nightclub properties after entering through garages.
The enhanced version's launch has been rocky, earning GTA V Enhanced the unfortunate distinction of becoming the worst-reviewed GTA game on Steam. Player complaints extend beyond performance issues to include problems with water appearance settings and the removal of text chat functionality.
While this update indicates that Rockstar is still committed to improving the game, the community response suggests that additional fixes are still needed before GTA V Enhanced rises to the level of user's expectations. Steam players have reported mixed results from the update, with some observing significant improvements while others maintain that the game still falls short of what should be expected from an "enhanced" version of the 2013 title.
