"Home Sweet Home" is a special mission included with the A Safehouse in the Hills update for GTA Online. It marks the return of Michael De Santa and acts as a short but meaningful story moment connected to the new luxury mansion system.

Unlike standard contact missions, Home Sweet Home does not unlock automatically. Players must meet specific conditions before it becomes available.

How to Unlock Home Sweet Home?

To unlock Home Sweet Home, players must complete a few required steps.

First, you must own at least one luxury mansion introduced with A Safehouse in the Hills. The mission cannot trigger without mansion ownership.

Purchasing a mansion via the Prix Luxury Real Estate in-game website.

Second, you need to complete all five KnoWay Out missions. These missions are assigned by Avi Schwartzman and can be finished without owning a mansion.

After completing both requirements, spend some time in Free Roam. The "Home Sweet Home" mission does not unlock instantly. After a short delay, Avi Schwartzman will call and make Home Sweet Home available on your phone.

Once the call comes through, you can launch the mission immediately or access it later through the Jobs menu.

Home Sweet Home First Time Reward

Completing Home Sweet Home for the first time rewards players with a one time bonus of GTA$500,000.

This reward is only awarded on the first completion. Any replays of the mission will pay a standard mission reward instead of the bonus amount.

The Mission

Home Sweet Home is a combat focused mission that takes place entirely at your mansion.

After the mission begins, you will team up with Michael De Santa as the property is attacked by armed mercenaries. The objective is simple. Defend the mansion and eliminate all hostile forces.

Once all the mercenaries are eliminated, the mission completes.

Why Home Sweet Home Matters

Although the mission itself is brief, it carries more narrative weight than a typical GTA Online activity.

Home Sweet Home reintroduces Michael De Santa into GTA Online and connects him directly to the new luxury mansion system and your GTA Online character. It also acts as a narrative bridge between long running GTA 5 characters and newer content.

The way the mission ends suggests that it may serve as setup rather than a standalone moment. Rockstar has a history of using smaller story missions to establish groundwork for larger updates. While nothing has been confirmed, many players believe future mansion based content or a major mission could build on this storyline.

Is Home Sweet Home Worth Doing?

Yes. The mission is short, can be completed solo, and offers a huge one time payout of GTA$500,000.

If you already own a mansion and have completed the KnoWay Out missions, there is little reason to delay completing it.
