Rockstar Games is ending support for user-generated content videos across all its games.

We're not entirely sure how many people this affects in a Youtube and TikTok dominated scene - but it's official: user-generated content videos on the Rockstar Games website is no more. In December 2024, Rockstar Games confirmed that it will no longer feature user-generated content on Red Dead Online, but now it appears that this extends to all Rockstar titles.

As spotted by @TezFunz2, Rockstar has released a new article confirming that users can no longer upload UGC videos to the studio's official website via the Rockstar Editor, with previously uploaded videos being removed too, as of April 15. It's unclear what triggered this change from Rockstar, especially since it's no longer exclusive to a single title.

Hopefully, it's not a foreshadowing of how Rockstar will support UGC videos with Grand Theft Auto 6 going forward. The update comes weeks after the rumors that Rockstar is planning to turn GTA 6 into the next big metaverse, similar to Fortnite and Roblox.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Rockstar had met with prominent content creators to discuss their future plans for GTA 6 annd Grand Theft Auto Online. Around the same time, rumors of Rockstar's plans to end numbered titles after GTA 6 spread all over the internet, although neither of the two claims have been confirmed as of yet.

To be fair, if GTA 6 does turn into the next metaverse, it wouldn't be the biggest surprise. GTA Online is already a metaverse of sorts, with near-perpetual updates released by Rockstar ever since it was launched. Over a decade after Grand Theft Auto V came out, GTA Online is one of the primary factors why the mainstream spotlight remains on the Grand Theft Auto franchise.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear like we'll find out more about GTA 6 soon. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick made it clear that no news about GTA 6 will come until we're closer to its release, which definitely isn't going to be until Mafia: The Old Country and Borderlands 4 are released on August and September, respectively.
