But Mafia: The Old Country is different. It's a legitimate AAA title from a big-name studio and an even larger publisher. It should've been one of the first games to be confirmed at a $80 price point and it isn't.
This, then, begs the question, will GTA 6 follow suit?
Obviously, Rockstar isn't going to sell GTA 6 for $50. We know that for sure by now. The different versions of Grand Theft Auto V guarantee that Rockstar isn't that charitable.
However, selling GTA 6 for $70 a year after the rest of the video game industry started considering a price increase five years into the current console generation isn't out of the question.
With Mafia: The Old Country set to release on August 8 and Borderlands 4 following suit on September 14, we won't have to wait too long for GTA 6's price to be revealed.
Perhaps we'll get a better idea once Take-Two and Gearbox Entertainment confirm how much Borderlands 4 will be sold for when it comes out.
For now, former PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida might be proven wrong when he said that GTA 6 will inevitably be sold for $80 if not higher.
GTA 6 is currently scheduled to release on May 26, 2026 on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X.
While waiting for it to come out, you can check the updated official website and find out more about the new characters, locations, and other details that you might have missed from the record-setting second trailer.
