Grand Theft Auto 6's latest trailer might not have set a new Guinness World Record for the most viewed video game trailer in 24 hours, but it managed to achieve something far greater.

According to Rockstar Games, the second GTA 6 trailer amassed more than 475 million views across multiple platforms within 24 hours of being released.

As revealed by the company to The Hollywood Reporter, GTA 6 now holds the record for the biggest video launch of all time, beating the Deadpool & Wolverine and The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailers, which debuted to 365 million views and 200 million views, respectively.

Released out of nowhere, Rockstar benefitted from a massive marketing campaign that saw the trailer be reposted by various outlets across multiple social media platforms.

On X alone, the second GTA 6 trailer was reposted by the official accounts of PlayStation, Xbox, X, and countless other outlets as well as fan pages.

Suffice to say, Take-Two Interactive has been putting its massive marketing budget to work.

Grand Theft Auto has been at the forefront of mainstream consciousness for over two decades. Since the release of Grand Theft Auto III, each new entry in the franchise has consistently set new standards. The rest of the industry are merely trying to live up to the expectations each new entry sets. GTA 6 is expected to be no different.

But what's particularly interesting about GTA 6 is the gap between it and its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto V.

Holder of several world records, GTA V is a multi-billion-dollar industry in and on itself, re-released across multiple platforms and consistently updated via Grand Theft Auto Online . GTA V casts a tall and looming shadow over GTA 6, but the sixthquel is certainly more than up for the challenge. With a new record under its belt, it remains to be seen what kind of accolades GTA 6 will get even before its release on May 26, 2026.

Already, GTA 6 was awarded the "Most Anticipated Game" at last year's The Game Awards. The same trophy is all but guaranteed to be Rockstar's to take home later this year.

Interestingly enough, with GTA 6 delayed to 2026, the field is now open for this year's Game of the Year award. Games like Split Fiction and Kingdom Come: Deliverance II are currently in the running, with Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei expected to be in contention as well.

As for GTA 6, the second trailer continues to be a gift that keeps on giving, revealing new characters, locations, and hidden details while the updated website gives us more in-depth information.
