Best Buy is turning 60 and to mark it the retailer is running a one-day, in-store-only promotion on August 22 where you can buy a $100 Best Buy gift card for $60, which means that you could then use that store credit to buy Grand Theft Auto VI for less.

Grand Theft Auto V famously held its full price for the better part of a decade and with pre-orders already shattering records, neither Rockstar Games nor Take-Two Interactive has any incentive to sell it for less. Retailers will have to take the hit, as explained by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, and this is the latest example of that.

Of course, the controversial GTA 6 edition isn't the only way that you can use the store credit, but it is the most straightforward use of it because it costs $100 and you can buy the store credit for just $60, so you walk out having paid sixty dollars for the most expensive version of the game. If you would rather grab the $80 edition over the edition nearly nine in ten buyers are choosing, you can still keep the leftover $20 for something else down the line.

Either way, you're coming out ahead and this is legit one of the best ways to get GTA 6 for less.

This one-day Best Buy deal turns the $100 GTA 6 Ultimate Edition into a $60 buy.

Just don't forget that this is not free money falling out of the sky. The deal only works inside the store, each customer only gets one card and every store only has a guaranteed stock of fifty. This is a get-there-early situation, possibly with a line and a ticket system, all so that you could save $40.

Whether that is worth possibly your entire Saturday morning is a personal call, and let's not pretend queuing outside a Best Buy is anyone's idea of a great weekend.

So, if you want in on the discount, best get to a Best Buy on August 22 as early as you can, buy your $100-for-$60 card, and grab yourself a GTA 6 pre-order. The card doesn't expire, so there is no rush to spend it that day, though. Plus, if you change your mind, you can buy something else entirely, maybe even GTA 6 on PC whenever that comes out.

While you're at it, you could try joining our giveaway and chance a free copy of the same controversial edition for yourself. Regardless of what you end up doing, just don't fall for the latest GTA 6 scam following the CyberLeek leak.
