GTA 6 Download Scams Increase Following Latest Leak

There is a version of the Grand Theft Auto VI leak story that ends with your bank details in a stranger's hands and it is spreading faster than the actual footage did. Primarily because of the CyberLeek clips, several scammers have popped up trying to convince Grand Theft Auto fans they have access to the leaked build, promising a copy for anyone willing to pay for it, which doesn't make sense because nobody has leaked a copy of GTA 6 that you can download and play.

If it isn't clear yet, there is no public GTA 6 build, no beta, and definitely no free PC version of a game that has no PC version available at all. So when a site or a Discord link tells you that you can buy a working build even if it looks like it's from Rockstar Games, don't trust it. If you do, you risk opening yourself up to credential stealers that scrape your saved passwords, banking trojans that go after your accounts, ransomware that locks your files and demands payment, and adware that buries your machine in junk.

The important thing to understand is where this is coming from. The folks behind the malware surge are opportunistic scammers exploiting the hype created by CyberLeek, the actual leaker who released footage and a map, watermarking it with their crypto nonsense and demands.

This is what happens when good intentions, even genuine ones, don't think about the mess they create. The most direct risk from the latest GTA 6 leaks is regular people getting their savings drained and data stolen. It's the exact reason why the actual preservation movement wanted nothing to do with them, even if CyberLeek was branding themselves as champions of the cause.

None of these scams are new, by the way. "Free download of a hyped game that is not out yet" is the oldest malware bait on the internet, older than GTA 6 and most of the sites running it. We have warned about the fake pre-order pages and put together a guide on spotting these scams before they cost you money months ago. Nothing's changed, except that maybe you need to exercise more caution because the hype for GTA 6 has never been higher.

The best thing you can do right now is to remember that there's no leaked GTA 6 to download. If you actually want to see the game, the only safe place is the first trailer, the second trailer, the artwork and screenshots, and the Extended Look premiering on Netflix on August 27.
