Now that the cat is out of the bag, the people behind Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album can finally start talking about it after weeks of teasing. And no one appears more excited to do so than Atlantic Records' CEO.

In an Instagram post shared as pre-orders opened, the Atlantic president called it "two years of our lives" and "one absolutely insane project," crediting a core team at the label and a close partnership with Rockstar Games from day one. The tone, as expected, was the kind of thing that you post when a secret you've held long enough is finally out in the open and you can talk about it without fear of repercussion.

That this collaboration never leaked despite the big names that are part of the entire project, even though Grand Theft Auto is one of the most popular and leaked properties on the internet, is just icing on the cake.

The GTA 6 album, and the two-year effort behind it.

Two years is a serious amount of time to put into a game soundtrack. It fits the caliber of what has surfaced so far, original tracks from a stacked roster of artists, Travis Scott's "RHYNO" recorded for the in-game Jack of Hearts, and a full physical release on vinyl and CD. This was planned as a major music project in its own right and as massive a project as any. It just so happened that it's part of Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive's entire marketing strategy for GTA 6.

The president closed the post with "we're just getting started," which reads as a hint at more to come, likely tied to the November launch. We're not quite sure what that means, but whatever it does, it's clear that the music side of GTA 6, which we've been tracking piece by piece as details leaked out, has become its own campaign, from the multiple and massive Spotify billboards to the artist rollout to a two-year album nobody outside the deal knew about until now.

A game this big gets a soundtrack that took two years and a major label to build. When the album arrives on November 19, it will be something that took years to build, same as everything else about this game.
