Paris is not done with Grand Theft Auto VI. Days after a giant ad for the game went up on the city's ring road, one of the most famous cinemas in the world is turning launch night into a shared event. On November 19, the exact day GTA 6 releases, the historic Grand Rex will host a live play session in its Salle Infinite, projecting the game's opening hours onto a giant screen for a paying crowd.

The idea is simple and a little strange, which is to watch someone else start GTA 6, together, in a cinema. French Twitch streamer Vlad_CKa, known for his GTA V roleplay, will play live on stage while the audience follows along on one of the largest screens in Europe.

Organized by Iconic Production, the evening wraps the gameplay in a show, animations and a giveaway, turning a solo release into a proper night out.

A communal launch night in one of the world's biggest cinemas.

Why do this instead of playing at home? For some, the draw is the shared atmosphere, taking in the decade's biggest release in a room full of people rather than alone with a download bar, server queues and the constant threat of spoilers. For others, paying to watch someone else play a single-player game and risking spoilers while they do, is a hard sell when the game is sitting at home waiting. Both reactions are fair, and the event is plainly built for the first group.

It is not the first time GTA 6 has been put on a big screen. Sony gave the game its own theater at Tokyo Game Show 2026, showing Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on a 300-inch display with floor haptics, and cinemas have hosted esports and watch parties for years. What makes the Grand Rex night stand apart is the combination, a full live playthrough of a brand-new game on the exact night it launches, inside a nearly century-old Parisian landmark. The event's poster even reimagines the Grand Rex as a slice of Vice City, all neon, palm trees and a classic car at dusk.

The night also fits how the GTA 6 launch day is becoming something communal rather than private. In Miami, the Heat are turning an NBA game into a Vice City night the evening before release. Elsewhere, fans are closing their businesses and building little rituals around the date. A sold-out Paris cinema watching the first hours together proves how almost nobody wants to experience this one alone.

So for French fans who would rather mark the moment with a crowd than a controller, the Grand Rex is offering a specific kind of launch night, part premiere, part watch party, part spectacle.

Tickets are already on sale and whether it is worth it comes down to one question. Do you want to play GTA 6 first, or feel it with a room full of people when it launches on November 19?
