The Miami Heat's Vice City night is no longer just a press release. Over the weekend the team rolled out a promo video built around the line "Bright lights. Vice City," turning the Grand Theft Auto VI crossover we first covered into a full marketing push, complete with a tagline, a tip-off time and a genuine basketball storyline underneath the gimmick.
The clip leans all the way into the fantasy. "For one night only, the HEAT trade Miami for Vice City," it says, over neon and palm-lined visuals pulled straight from the game's aesthetic. It is the first real creative asset for the event and confirms that this is happening. Now, we have more concrete details. For starters, the Heat will host the Milwaukee Bucks at the Kaseya Center on November 18 at 7 p.m. ET, the night before GTA 6 launches. The game airs locally on Local 10 and nationally on ESPN, in partnership with Rockstar Games.
According to the official announcement, the team is promising a never-before-seen custom court, an all-new uniform and extra in-arena activations, with a dedicated hub at HEAT.com/ViceCity and more reveals coming in the weeks ahead.
What is confirmed for November 18
Detail | What the Heat announced |
|---|---|
Matchup | Heat host the Milwaukee Bucks at the Kaseya Center |

The hub | A dedicated HEAT.com/ViceCity page for the full rollout |
The eve-of-launch timing puts the game's name on national TV roughly 24 hours before release.
Fun fact: November 18 is also Giannis Antetokounmpo's first game against the Bucks since Milwaukee traded him to Miami in the offseason. So the biggest night of Rockstar's real-world marketing campaign is landing on a game that already had a reason to be circled, a former MVP and NBA champion facing the only franchise he had ever played and won an NBA ring for, on ESPN. The crossover does not need the basketball to matter, but it got it anyway and this all but guarantees that pretty much the entire world will tune in to watch "A Night in Vice City."
Then there's the merch. The Vice City Collection is live now through the team's Court Culture line, with shirts and headwear running the neon branding, including a "Went to Vice City" tee that plays on the one-night-only framing. The on-court uniform itself remains a secret, with the Heat pointing fans to sign up for the drop, so the gear on the floor November 18 is still a tease.
The reason this keeps working is that Miami and Vice City were never far apart to begin with. The Heat have leaned on a "Vice" identity since 2017 and the court for this game will reportedly be the fourth different Vice-themed floor in team history. The game did not invent the connection. It just made it official. For one night the team's long-running neon alter ego and Rockstar's fictional Miami become the same thing, under a "Welcome to Vice City" rooftop sign that was lit up on October 1, in a building that already appears in GTA 6 as the fictional Sahara Arena.
That is also what separates this from the usual sports-game tie-in. Leagues do themed nights and alternate jerseys all the time and even the NBA 2K crossover with GTA 6 stops at an in-game season. A professional team handing over its identity, its court, its uniform and its arena to one game for a nationally televised night, timed to that game's launch, is different. It's part of the beach-chair branding and downtown banners in a Miami takeover that keeps escalating.
So the trailer is really a starting gun. The uniform reveal, the activations and the HEAT.com/ViceCity hub are still to come, which means "A Night in Vice City" night will keep generating headlines right up to November 19.
