While Rockstar Games releasing a Grand Theft Auto 4 remaster remains a pipedream for as long as it's busy working on Grand Theft Auto 6, this hasn't stopped modders from taking us on a modernized trip back to Liberty City.
Back in October, we reported on a mod that gave GTA 4 a modern refresh with the help of RTX Remix, a proprietary feature on Nvidia-powered graphics cards.
Fast forward to today, and it appears the mod is now finally available to download here.
It's less of an overhaul and more of an enhancement, letting you enjoy playing through Niko Bellic's story once again under a modern lens.
According to video game insider @videotechuk, the folks behind this mod are working on new assets for GTA 4 for further improvements down the line.
Real-time Path Tracing is basically the video game industry's attempt at simulating how lighting works in real life. Simply put, it makes games look more realistic, and it's safe to say that this mod does just that for GTA 4.
It works similarly to how much better Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online now looks on the PC following the update released by Rockstar earlier this year and by turning on this "secret" feature.
