Grand Theft Auto Online has been out for over a decade—it recently celebrated its 11th birthday—but it wasn't until recently that Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games really started cracking down on Mod Menus and cheaters by introducing the BattlEye update. While effective, that move brought its own suite of challenges for the game and the community; luckily, some progress is being made.

Unfortunately, the anti-cheat software may have worked a bit too well for everyone's good, resulting in false positive bans. Thankfully, it appears Rockstar has found the problem with the system and has manually issued reversals, even for those who didn't appeal their bans.

The long-time GTA developers have yet to release an official statement about the mass ban reveals, but it is happening, at least according to this Reddit thread. Redditors are now joking that the email was the first ban reversal email they've seen come from Rockstar.

Rockstar recently updated its ban policy across all of its games, confirming that it was at least aware of the possibility that BattlEye could go haywire. While the update has received plenty of backlash from Linux and Steam Deck users (Valve and Rockstar are currently working on a solution), the anti-cheat system is very much working. Cheatmakers have even banded together to presumably take down GTA Online servers with DDoS attacks, which just proves this point.
