Gamescom 2025 is currently underway following a huge opening night, but what if the biggest news from gaming's largest annual events is yet to come? This is what Grand Theft Auto fans would like to believe after several content creators shared on X that Rockstar Games has a booth at the showcase, which will run through August 25.

It's worth noting that Rockstar hasn't really paid attention much to these types of events. Throughout Gamescom's history, Rockstar has never been on the list of exhibitors, even in the lead up to the release of Grand Theft Auto V in 2013 and Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. Thus, the appearance of Rockstar's logo, is drawing plenty of speculation.

If you ask @SynthPotato, Rockstar might be taking this opportunity to show off Grand Theft Auto 6 to "a few exclusive industry people", which makes sense, except this isn't their usual MO. At least, not at Gamescom. While there are those who are supportive of this theory, @GameRoll , among others, isn't quite sold on the idea that this is related to GTA 6 _at all.

To be fair, there's a good reason to doubt based on Rockstar's history. The company has positioned itself as its own gravitational center. It has shown that it can orchestrate global media events on its own terms, at its own pace.

Case in point, the first and second_ GTA 6 _trailers set records despite pretty much dropping out of nowhere, especially the latter.

Besides, when's the last time you heard Rockstar was at a Gamescom? It's only reasonable to expect that following its own official announcement that_ GTA 6 will release on May 26, 2026, the company will follow the established playbook, preferring to rely on strategic silence, brand trust, and community engagement. However, we shouldn't discount the possibility that GTA 6 _is an exception.

It's not like Rockstar has to do much anyway. The fact that we're talking about Rockstar's logo being in Cologne, Germany, right now confirms the kind of hold that the studio has over pretty much the entire video game industry.

Of course, the best-case scenario is still for Rockstar to actually drop something substantial at the event itself. After all, Take-Two Interactive did confirm that the company earmarked a huge sum for marketing this fiscal year. There's no doubt that much of this is for_ GTA 6_.

With that said, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently revealed that there's much more to Rockstar than just the incoming sixthquel. With rumored re-releases of_ Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto IV _en route, we can't discount the possibility that we're getting something from Rockstar before the week ends.

Or, it could also be that Take-Two just put Rockstar's logo for advertising purposes, just like what @SynthPotato is saying in a follow-up tweet. Regardless of whatever Rockstar announces by the 25th (if they ever announce anything at all), you'd best bet that we'll be one of the first to break the news.
