Digital PS5 copies of Grand Theft Auto VI begin unlocking in New Zealand at 11:00 UTC on November 18 and finish their current regional rollout 19 hours later in Mexico and Central America. This is not one simultaneous worldwide launch.
We checked every regional PlayStation Store listing that currently shows a release timestamp for the next Grand Theft Auto from Rockstar Games. The 63 timed countries and regions resolve into 15 windows. Most open at local midnight on November 19, but a nationwide Store timestamp produces an earlier evening start in the western parts of countries with several time zones.
That is why the United States listing gives New York a midnight launch while Los Angeles can start at 9 p.m. on November 18. Australia stretches from midnight in Sydney to 9 p.m. in Perth, and parts of Brazil, Canada, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Portugal and Spain also differ from the midnight shown for their Store region.
Your PlayStation account's country or region controls which Store listing applies. Changing the console clock does not change that account region or move the unlock time.

The table covers the digital PS5 release because PlayStation is the platform currently publishing these country-by-country timestamps. Rockstar's preorder support page names 62 PlayStation Store markets, while Taiwan's live Store page supplies the 63rd timed listing included above. Rockstar says more countries may be added as platform policies, regional regulations and age ratings allow.
If your country or region is absent, there is no verified PS5 time to borrow from a neighboring market yet. Check your own Store page again closer to launch.
Preload begins November 12
Rockstar says digital pre-orders can begin preloading at local midnight on November 12, seven days before release. The physical Standard Edition also becomes available from November 12 and is a code in a box, not a disc. Buyers can redeem that code and start the download as soon as they receive it.
The final download size is still unannounced. Neither the large and expansive map nor the locations already identified across Leonida gives a reliable way to estimate it. The practical move is to leave enough storage free and begin the preload when it opens.
Is the staggered rollout unusual?
No. Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 also had region-dependent console launches rather than one simultaneous global release. Their details were not identical to the current GTA 6 Store schedule, but players in some regions still gained access before others.
Can you use the New Zealand trick?
New Zealand's early window will tempt players elsewhere, but there is no universal switch that safely moves every pre-order to that launch time.
On PlayStation, an account's country or region cannot be changed after creation, and Sony says the account region should match its billing information. A New Zealand purchase therefore requires an appropriate New Zealand account and payment method; changing the console clock is not enough. Rockstar also warns that PlayStation download codes must match the region of the platform account, so a mismatched physical code may not activate.
Rockstar says Xbox download codes are not region-locked, but that does not prove the Xbox version will follow these 15 PlayStation windows or that changing a console region will unlock an existing order early. The Xbox Store currently confirms the November 19 release date without exposing the same country-by-country schedule. Check the timestamp on your own Xbox order before treating the New Zealand method as available for GTA 6.
For most players, the small head start is unlikely to justify a second account, another region's payment method or the risk of buying a code that does not match a PlayStation account. The regional difference is worth understanding if you are choosing a console for GTA 6, but it is not a guaranteed 19-hour advantage on Xbox.
The more immediate problem is spoilers. New Zealand and Australia will be exploring Vice City and Leonida while much of Europe and the Americas are still waiting. With GTA 6 pre-orders already surging, launch footage is unlikely to stay contained, so consider muting social feeds or following our GTA 6 spoiler-avoidance guide before the first window opens.
Check your own Store page again near launch, begin preloading as soon as it becomes available and use the GTA 6 countdown for the final wait. The current PS5 timestamps are specific enough to plan around, but Sony or Rockstar can still change them before November 19.
