The Grand Theft Auto VI album is already a hit, even with only six of its songs out. The first singles from GTA 6: The Album pulled a reported 4.1 million combined Spotify streams in their first 24 hours after dropping on September 17. The numbers have kept climbing since - as of writing, the six tracks have combined for over 24 million streams.
Morgan Wallen's "Last Thing You Need" is out in front with more than 6.8 million on its own, charting well beyond the typical GTA crowd. The official Grand Theft Auto Spotify playlist spiked alongside the releases, with overall searches for the game climbing too. However, there's a small caveat to note here. The 4.1 million day-one figure comes from industry coverage tied to Atlantic Records and Rockstar Games.
It isn't an official Spotify or Rockstar release, so it is a reported figure rather than a confirmed one. The running totals are visible on Spotify itself though, so it's not like someone made it up. Either way, the scale is not in doubt.

What's more surprising is how popular it remains given what's missing. These are just six songs out of 34. The full album does not arrive until November 19, alongside the game. The biggest names on the tracklist and most of the music are still unreleased, including Travis Scott's "RHYNO". Whatever numbers the singles are doing now, the full drop will dwarf it.
With that said, this doesn't really come off as a surprise. The two-year Atlantic Records collaboration, the artist teases and the Spotify billboards were all pointing at a soundtrack meant to be an event on its own. The streaming numbers prove that it's working. GTA 6 is not just selling a game. It is launching a hit record next to it.
The album is doing exactly what Rockstar wanted before it is even finished. Six singles, 24 million streams and a chart-climbing Morgan Wallen track, all as a warm-up. When the other 28 songs arrive with the game in November, the GTA 6 soundtrack is going to be one of the biggest music releases of the year, giving Take-Two Interactive yet another foothold beyond the video game industry. Once again, it'll be all because of GTA.
