GTA Online: The Chop Shop is a content update released on December 12, 2023. It brings Yusuf Amir and his cousin Jamal to Los Santos, where they run a vehicle-theft operation from the new Salvage Yard business.1

Salvage Yard business

Players can buy one of five Salvage Yard properties, ranging from Paleto Bay to Strawberry. The business provides a Planning Wall for Salvage Yard Robberies, vehicle lifts for dismantling stolen cars and optional Trade Rates and Tow Truck upgrades. Each robbery begins with a target selected from a weekly rotation. Players gather intel, complete preparation work and Freemode tasks, then steal the vehicle in a finale. The recovered car can be delivered to the docks for an immediate payment or broken down for parts over time.1

Yusuf first appeared in The Ballad of Gay Tony. The Chop Shop brings him into GTA Online as the buyer behind the robbery operation, while Jamal manages its planning and preparation work.

Vehicles, weapons and Drift Races

The update added a new vehicle lineup and made the Vapid Stanier LE Cruiser, Unmarked Cruiser and Police Riot available to own after completing their respective unlock conditions. Our Police cars guide lists those requirements and trade-price challenges.2

Selected cars can receive Drift Tuning at the LS Car Meet and compete in seven Drift Races around Los Santos. The Battle Rifle also joined the weapon selection through the Gun Van and Agency Armory.12

Other additions

The Chop Shop introduced animals to Freemode on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. GTA+ members on those consoles also gained access to The Vinewood Club Garage, which stores up to 100 personal vehicles across five floors.1

The update also added more than 300 clothing items and accessories, 32 tattoos, character birthday gifts and a revised Daily Challenges system. Race and Deathmatch Creator options were expanded alongside new props and checkpoint controls.2
