The hired individual will likely help shape the GTA 6 universe at launch and going forward.
You'd think that with Grand Theft Auto 6 less than a year away from being released, it would mean that most of Rockstar Games' hiring would be focused on marketing the game, not fleshing it out, but you'd be wrong.
In a recent job post, Rockstar can be seen looking for an "Associate Creative Copywriter" who will be responsible for writing "scripts for our in-game media", among other things, at their main office in Manhattan, New York.
According to Rockstar, they prefer someone who has "2-3 years of professional experience writing comedy in multiple forms, whether it be in advertising, TV, skits, etc."
Prior to the delay, which by the way, might have been premeditated, Rockstar was seen ramping up hiring efforts to help market and test GTA 6.
The first GTA 6 trailer was a perfect fascimile of modern day entertainment, with social media front and center. The second GTA 6 trailer doubled down on this while showing off Vice City's picturesque locations, new characters, and the relationship between Jason and Lucia.
With this hiring, it's becoming clearer how Rockstar wants to emphasize social media as a major theme in GTA 6, perhaps even extending to its online counterpart, the still-untitled successor to Grand Theft Auto Online.
Interestingly, Rockstar wants to hire someone with comedic experience. Although the trailers so far do show that Rockstar hasn't pulled its satirical punches at all, bringing in someone who can write on-brand guarantees that the game's in-verse media will help reassure those who are worried that the studio will be more careful this time around.

After finding itself in hot water for subjecting employees to unhealthy work hours for years, Rockstar is a much better place to work for these days. It's even believed that part of the reason for the GTA 6 delay is to give developers more time to work on the game at a healthy pace.
GTA 6 is currently set to release on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X on May 26, 2026.
