After years of complaints about needing multiple launchers to play their games, the studio finally lets players choose which launcher to use - plus Discord integration that actually works.
If you're a PC gamer who plays Rockstar titles, you know the struggle. You buy Grand Theft Auto V on Steam during a sale, then realize you need the Rockstar Games Launcher anyway.
You get Red Dead Redemption 2 on Epic Games Store because of an exclusive deal, but it still opens through Rockstar's launcher. It's like needing three different keys just to open your own front door.
Well, it seems someone at Rockstar Games is finally listening to year of complaints. The developers just ended this annoying aspect of playing their games on PC.
An update, which quietly dropped earlier this week, introduces several quality-of-life improvements that PC players have been begging for since the launcher first appeared. The biggest game-changer? You can now choose which launcher you want to use to boot your games directly from the Rockstar Games Launcher itself.
But that's not all. Rockstar has also added a three-dot menu right next to the play button that gives instant access to uninstall and settings options.
Finally, the update brings Discord Rich Presence integration to multiple Rockstar titles. For the uninitiated, this means your Discord friends can now see exactly what you're playing, how long you've been playing, and even join your session directly through Discord.
Setting it up couldn't be simpler. Just open the Rockstar Games Launcher, head to Settings, and toggle Discord Rich Presence on or off under the General tab. That's it.

With Grand Theft Auto VI scheduled for a May 2026 release on consoles, and PC players expecting their usual waiting period afterward, many assumed Rockstar had shifted all their focus to the console versions.
This launcher update suggests otherwise. While Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has previously confirmed that the PC port will still not be available for a while, we can at least be sure that it will benefit from these enhanced launcher features from day one.
Speaking of GTA 6, Rockstar recently redacted information from a pair of job listings where it specifically referred to the upcoming sixthquel as the "largest game launch in history."
