The update shows that Rockstar is still listening to its community and is willing to implement long-requested features, even if it takes some time.

Grand Theft Auto V just received a significant update ahead of the expected release of Grand Theft Auto V: Expanded and Enhanced on PC. As revealed by Tez2 on X, an unannounced update for the Rockstar Games Launcher was released today, February 19, where Rockstar integrated Discord Rich Presence into GTA 5 and GTA Online, shortly after the official launch of the game's Discord server.

It isn't enabled yet, but once online, it will change how players share their in-game activities with friends on the popular communication platform. Instead of the generic "Playing Grand Theft Auto V " status, Discord will now display detailed information about what players are doing in the game, offering a more immersive and social experience. So, if you went to the strip club or you're thinking of going to one, you might want to exercise caution.

Kidding aside, the addition of Discord Rich Presence to GTA V comes as a pleasant surprise to many long-time fans. This update brings GTA V on PC more in line with its versions on the consoles, including the now-defunct versions on the PlayStation 3, which had similar social features over a decade ago.

This update is expected to enhance the social aspect of GTA V, allowing players to easily share their in-game adventures, missions, and activities with friends on Discord. Perhaps it's a glimpse of what fans should expect come Grand Theft Auto 6, which is expected to have more integrated social features, both with its online counterpart and in-game as evidenced by what we saw in the first trailer.

The integration of Discord Rich Presence is just one of many ways Rockstar Games continues to support and improve GTA V, especially on PC. Just last year, Rockstar added a layer of security to the PC version of the second-best-selling video game of all time with the introduction of BattleEye. Now, we've got Discord integration and a promise from Take-Two Interactive that it won't stop supporting Grand Theft Auto Online once GTA 6 is out.

With that said, it'll be interesting to see what else Rockstar has up its sleeve for GTA V and GTA Online. Clearly, the developers aren't done with the decade-old game just yet.
